“The search was for motorcycle heaven. Part of it we found The rest we created. For that one week I seriously doubt that there was any place on planet earth we would rather have been.” Cannonball Bike Run - 5th Anniversary Event Morocco, Africa
Q. Africa? - WTF! Do I need to get jabs for malaria and all that stuff?
A. According to the World Health Organisation (WHO), there are no vaccination requirements for any regions in Morocco that we visit. In one specific area that the event passes through there is a “very limited malaria risk” which is sufficiently limited that the WHO recommend that vaccinations are NOT taken and only standard mosquito bite prevention is necessary. A full pack of information regarding all such aspects will be sent to riders prior to the event.

Q. What if we need any medical attention during the event?
A. Obviously your health and safety is our No.1 priority and extensive measures are being taken in this area. For 2009 our support team will once again include a doctor who will travel alongside the event and all medical centers en-route have been mapped. In addition lunch at carefully selected restaurants is provided every day to ensure food safety. Evenings will be spent in only the finest quality hotels, bars, clubs, restaurants and casinos where such concerns are not an issue. You will of course need the usual travel insurance.

Q. Do I need to get a Carnet or other special documents to take my bike into Africa?
A. No. CBR will handle all of this on your behalf. You will only need to bring your vehicle registration documents to prove the bike is yours along with the usual proof of insurance. 3rd Party insurance may also be purchased at the border at nominal cost.

Q. What type of roads are we riding and is there any off-road?
A. The route is 100% tarmac and can be easily navigated on a sport-bike, tourer or cruiser. Dual-sport bike riders may wish to have some additional fun though!

Q. Where do we drop-off the bikes prior to the event for transportation to the start location?
A. We have a drop-off point in the UK near Manchester but we can also arrange a door-to-door service for your bike to be collected from and delivered back to your home. Please call the office on +44 (0)1189 475 200 for details and a quotation.

Q. I live outside of Europe and am considering entering. Do you provide rental bikes for the event?
A. Yes, call the office on +44 (0)1189 475 200 and we will provide you with rental options on various types of bikes for the event. In summary a large range of sport bikes are available for rental in the UK (which we can transport to the start for you) plus we have secured a limited number of BMW GS 650s & 1200s for pick-up in either in Southern Spain or Morocco.

Q. Where is the start location that we need to fly into?
A. All riders will fly into Malaga Airport, Spain which is a hub served by multiple international budget airlines. We will provide a coach service for riders from Malaga to the departure port where you will collect your bikes for the ferry to Morocco.

Q. This sounds like a bit of an adventure, are we going to be roughing it?
A. No. This is Cannonball Bike Run - the luxury adventure rally. Check out our report from the 2008 event here if you are in doubt.
