Cannonball Bike Run has been purpose-designed to allow entrants to enjoy each and every minute of the whole event. Having attended and organised literally hundreds of road rallies previously and through constant development of the event format, CBR now sets a whole new standard with:
1) No “through the night” stages. Complete exhaustion does not aid your enjoyment of the other aspects of a week-long event.
2) No “vanity” mileage targets. We believe the quality rather than the quantity of the ride to be more important. And that means the very best mountain and back-road routes with low traffic levels that engage and thrill the rider - not endless motorways which induce boredom and inattentiveness.
3) No “critical” way-points to catch flights, ferries etc whereby if you miss them your event ends there and then. We understand that problems can occur and having to ride irresponsibly just to stay in the event does not induce a state of mind in keeping with having the time of your life.
4) Challenging but not extreme-fatigue inducing stages each day. We are not saying that each day’s ride will be easy! But you won’t need to endure mileages that affect your ability to concentrate or enjoy the event to the fullest. Our aim is for you to arrive invigorated and inspired by your days ride and fully prepared to enjoy another night of unique CBR hospitality.
5) Technical and Recovery Vehicle back-up provided throughout so that if you do experience mechanical difficulties you will not be left marooned, alone and out of the event. At the very least you know that you and your bike will be transported to the next destination and other vehicles are available so you can continue to enjoy the whole of CBR.
6) Luggage transfer by support vehicles allowing you to ride unencumbered by baggage.
7) Medical Back-up with a Doctor traveling alongside the event and access to medical facilities throughout the route.
8) Optional Routes. By their very nature our routes are designed to take in the most scenic, enjoyable riding roads and mountain passes available between each night’s destination. In most cases this is often the longest route (in both time and distance) meaning that riders who have partied a bit too hard the night before, who would welcome a lie-in to recharge, who have had a mechanical problem or some other delay can always elect to “go direct” via motorways or other A-Roads and still arrive in good time for dinner and the next night’s festivities. Forever playing catch-up to a dinner and party you have just missed simply ain’t no fun.
9) Bikes transported separately both to and from the start / finish locations. As we push the geographical boundaries it makes no sense to have a long and arduous ride to the start that leave both bike and rider ill-prepared for what is already a pretty challenging event. On an “at cost” basis, CBR will transport your bike (with pick-up from your home if required), so you can fly in fresh and ready for the adventure ahead. With our arrival airport being served by multiple budget airlines the overall cost to the rider when you consider petrol, tolls, wear and tear on bike/tyres and additional nights hotels & time off work is actually less.
