Welcome!
When we established Silverbirch Associates in June of 2008 it was in response to a number of signals from the market place. We saw that many of the greatest crises that the world is now facing are man-made, and as a result of many new forces of change brought about by globalization and changing social values.
Whether we are speaking of climate change or the economy, these issues all seem to track back to decisions made by corporate leaders and boards around the globe. We asked ourselves, “Why are bad decisions made?” The answer seemed to us to be that corporate leaders might be receiving poor information - perhaps from the wrong sources; or they are faced by new challenges driven by globalization and new technologies that they are not fully equipped to handle. So what will help them to make better decisions and “do the right things, the right way”?
We believe that the role of corporations is fundamentally changing, along with the expectations of society. As society changes, so do the expectations of your employees. How they work (given many new options as a result of new technologies), what they want from their work experience, and how they balance their lives are all becoming issues for management. Governments are becoming less influential as geographic boundaries become less and less relevant and companies are becoming more powerful on the world stage as their reach spans the globe via the internet and emerging market opportunities. These realities add a whole new layer of complexity for management teams who are forced to deal with regulatory issues, supply change management, managing diversity and staying on top of knowing just who their priority stakeholders actually are! Coping with all this change requires a different leadership mind-set, new strategies and perhaps new competencies on the leadership team. At Silverbirch we can help you put these in place.
From the Board Room (Global Board Director Initiative), across your entire organization, to your relationship with the local community (Events), we have ideas to share with you on how you can establish trust, manage risk, measure performance and leverage opportunity in our quickly changing business environment. We call this embedding functional CSR policies.
Corporate Responsibility means being accountable for the impact, both positive and negative the behavior and actions of your organization have on your full range of stakeholders. How you conduct your business, and how well this good behavior is communicated equates to your reputation in the market place. You cannot fake or spin good behavior or values in a world where a scandal can break globally in 20 minutes via weblog.
We can help you identify your key stakeholders, prioritize their concerns and needs, assess the impact you have on them and help you align your business practices to meet their expectations in a way that protects and enhances your reputation and brand value (see Our Services). We can help you communicate these actions in a way that is authentic and relevant to a new global society which is both well-informed and well-connected. Ensuring you have open information from the right sources, developing positions on key issues of concern to your stakeholders, and then preparing your leaders to communicate them consistently and effectively. This is simply one of the best risk management tools you will find. The processes to achieve this are what we can deliver to you. We look forward to serving you!
We would love to hear from you as well. We hope that you enjoy our website and welcome any comments or feedback you may be willing to share. Thanks for visiting.
