More from “The Best Day Ever”

The day it all went down.... This summer at Camp of Champs I saw the heaviest session on a jump I have ever seen, quite possibly that the world has ever seen.  Imagine the worlds best skiers and snowboarders brought together on a fine summers' day to shred the best summertime jumps ever built, just for fun.  That is exactly what happened somewhere in the middle of Session C at COC.   The tone had been set the day before by 4FRNT owner/rider Matt Sterbenz throwing a solid double back over the 85 ft step up.  The rest of the boys must have been inspired, because over the course of just a couple of hours the next day, I personally witnessed at least 15 double flipping/double corked tricks thrown by at least 6 different skiers, including Tanner Hall, Matt Sterbenz, Chris Turpin, Luke Van Valin, Steele  Spence, and some other sick dudes. Stand out tricks included Tanner Hall throwing his double flatspin/kinda kangarooflippy 900 several times, perfectly executed, and wildchylde Chris Turpin's unbelievable double flatspins- which were truly flatspins and on an axis I still can't believe he can pull out of. Turpin kept throwing them over and over and over, lasting all the way until the end of the day to when the diggers salted the run-in, surprising Chis on the take off and resulting in a double flatspin 9 to rodeo 5 or something, landing him all the way at the bottom of the landing (100 plus feet), and smashing his face in pretty good.  A little concussive, Turpin was still able to determine that he had spun at least 1440 degrees, and was stoked to be alive.  When I talked to Tanner at the end of the day, he smiled, truly stoked and said he had never seen a session like that, ever.  I am glad I was there to witness it first hand.  Thanks to Steve Petrie and the boys at Arena Snowparks for building such an insane park, and thanks to Camp of Champions for making it happen.  Oh yeah, the snowboarders were killing it too, but the skiers took the prize that day. - Rob Kingwill

We are going to combine all the footage and photos from that day from all the different filmers and shooters and chuck it up as soon as we get it all sorted.
