An Invitation to Remain
Much of what we see around us is undergoing some kind of reconstruction, thus leaving us with temporary moments or 'still lives' of neglected and forgotten scraps.  Composing with materials found in demolition sites, Ehryn Torrell creates voluminous landscapes that swell into the viewing space and confront the viewer.  Her paintings invite imagined touch – to run your fingers across jagged shards of splintered wood, to pick up and compose with precarious piles of debris, and to squeeze through unstable structures and break the threat of collapse.
