Joy and Safari began the show season in August this year, starting with the Centerline Events, CDI***, Saugerties, NY, where they showed at fourth level and placed well, winning one class and placing third in their other class. Today, they continued to do well at the Beland Dressage Show, again winning one class and tying for first place in their second class at fourth level. Later this week the two are off to the NEDA Fall Show, Saugerties, NY. Wish them luck!
Mary and Ursula debuted at first level and won their class! They placed fifth at training level, test 4 with a good score of 65%. Congrats!

Mary was selected to ride in the Courtney King-Dye/Anne Gribbons Young Rider Symposium, an educational weekend organized by Renee Isler. The event was an absolute success, top young riders rode in the clinic and were required to ride a test of their choice in front of Anne Gribbons on Friday, have a training session with Courtney Saturday, and ride once more with Courtney on Sunday and perform the test again in front of Kathy Connelly. Mary returned from an unforgettable week in Las Vegas. Mary traveled to the World Cup to enjoy the top dressage competition and also spent her time meeting with Dutch riders, including Adelinde Cornelissen, Sjef Janssen, Anky Van Grunsven, Joyce Heutink, and many more, Mary is working along side Karin Offield and these Dutch riders on a Dutch website project. Cadence Farm’s working student, Elizabeth Noyes, had a very successful weekend at her Pony Club competition. Elizabeth competed her horse, Moses, the pair scored a 68%, a 17 point increase from her previous competition last year. Elizabeth has been a working student at Cadence since the fall of 2008, and trains with Mary once a week.

Joy held the first area trainers meeting at Cadence Farm. The purpose is for trainers to get together and network, exchange ideas on marketing, sales, training issues, you name it. We plan to meet every six weeks.

Joy and Mary attended the USDF convention in Denver, Colorado. Joy serves on the Board of Governors and Mary on the Youth Executive Board. Mary was elected President of the Youth Board, a term lasting two years. Click here for photos.

Dressage at Devon is this country’s premier competition. The best horse and rider combinations from across the country and Canada come together for one week of great dressage. Mary and Rossi qualified this year for the Young Rider tests. Marc actually attended along with Joy’s close friend Joan Shulman and Mary’s friend Katie Croyle, who attends near by Bryn Mawr College. Joy, Mary, Rossi and of course Isabelle, returned from the USEF Dressage Seat Equitation National Finals held at Dressage at Lamplight, Wayne, IL. It was a 16 hour drive to Illinois. We drove the first nine hours to Ohio and spent the night in Gates Mills with good friend Doris van Heeckeren. Mary finished fourth on the first day and ninth in the finals class. 16 riders from across the country competed. All were great, with three points separating Mary from first place. Super experience. Joy has been elected by her peers as a USDF delegate for Region 8. Off to Denver in December for the USDF convention!

Joy, Mary and Courtney competed at Dressage at Saratoga with Windsor, Rossi and Tempest. Joy and Windsor won the High Point Training Level award for the weekend for placing second and first (with a 70%) at training level test 4. Courtney won both of her first level, 4 classes and Mary had success at fourth level and rode her first FEI Young Rider Team test. She was the High Point Fourth Level, junior/young rider. Joy and Mary attended the USDF annual convention, held at Disney World, in Florida. Joy went to numerous seminars on horse health topics while Mary participated in various committee meetings for the Youth Executive Board. Click here for photos.

Mary wins the USEF Dressage Seat Semi-Finals. Off to the Nationals in 2008! Joy and Safari place fifth in the USDF Region 8 Finals in the third level, open division. Click here for photos!

Congratulations to Mary for being elected by her peers to the USDF Youth Executive Board. As a board member, Mary will be representing all of the youth in Region 8 and attend the USDF annual convention, this year in Orlando, Florida.

Safari put in three super third level tests winning all three with two scores over 72%, including a score of 10 for his halt, rein back at the CDA show at Kasson Ridge. Meanwhile, Mary participated in the USDF Advanced Young Rider Clinic with Kathy Connelly with Rossignol where the two learned a tremendous amount.

Joy and Mary recently returned from their trip to Florida with Rossignol. Mary rode in the Jr/Young Rider clinic with Edward Gal at Two Swans Farm, Wellington, Florida. Overall, the clinic was fantastic; great training, entertainment and hospitality. Click here to see photos.

Mary Bahniuk Lauritsen is selected to participate in the Young Rider Wellington, Florida clinic. The clinic is designed especially for Young Riders involving the top competitors and clinicians of the world, this year including; Edward Gal, Steffan Peters, George Williams, and Volker Bromman.
