I realize that it has been over a month since my last post. And I don’t really have time to give a full-blown summary of the past month, but here are just a few things that have been keeping me busy in the past weeks.

• New Role: I will be taking over the role of school principal for the coming school year. I fully realize that I am not really qualified to adequately carry out this position, but I hope that I will be able to keep things going for this school year, or until we have someone to carry out the duties. I will be counting on some support from various members of the congregation, from friends who serve as teachers and/or principals, our faculty members, and others. During this past month we have spent much time sorting through school records, organizing and getting everything in place for the upcoming school year.
• We were assigned two new teachers for our school. We have spent the past month preparing the classrooms for the teachers to be able to step in a few weeks before school starts and have some sense of where everything is. Our teachers arrived this weekend, and I look forward to getting to work with them. Since the closest WELS school to us is over 4 hours away, we’ll have to be a little creative in the orientation process and making sure these new teachers have a mentor in place to assist them as they begin their ministry.

As I look back over the past month, it’s amazing that these two things have pretty much dominated my work. That is, in addition to al the regular pastoral duties. We also had VBS this past week.

One thing I haven’t had time for is writing here. I hope that I’ll be able to give that some time in the near future. I am also planning to take some time off in the middle of this month. That will be a much-needed break. Just in time before the new school year starts.
