But maybe you got here accidentally or just haven’t seen us in a while. In that case, let me tell you a little about ourselves...

My name is Christopher and my wife’s name is Alice. We’ve been married since 2005 and live in Knoxville, Tennessee near downtown, in an Victorian neighborhood called Mechanicsville. We built a house that I call “The Chameleon House” because it’s designed to blend in with the old houses.

We like living in urban areas with the huge mix of people it brings, from the very rich to the very poor. We’re all mashed up together and dealing with it. We have cool shops and restaurants, a farmer’s market on Saturday, art galleries and coffee shops, and now a movie theater. Knoxville might not be a great “center of civilization” but it’s a great place to live. The people are friendly and there’s always good music around, often of the bluegrass variety. Once you dig down through the surface Knoxville offers and many cool and funky aspects of itself. These are things we’ve come to know and love.

I design buildings for a living. I’m the Design Manager at Smee+Busby Architects. I love geometry and composition and texture. I love helping make places for people that they can enjoy. Alice is is a Middle School teacher - she actually likes hanging out with dorky middle schoolers.

Alice and I both love God and have accepted grace from His son in our lives. We try to live the way he wants us to live, though we often fail. We go to Redeemer Church. It’s a church committed to bringing Christ to the city. It’s an eclectic mix of people: college students, families with babies, young hipsters, elderly people, homeless people looking for a warm place. We like it. Redeemer reflects the city around it, and it doesn’t shy away from being part of it.
