Modeled after the original Vet Art Project in Chicago, the Vet Art Project Seattle creates opportunities for veterans to work in collaboration with artists from all disciplines to create new art about war for public performance and viewing. The goals of the Vet Art Project are to create stronger voices among our veterans, offer a venue to hear the voices of our veterans and artists, and foster discussions as to how war affects us all.
Hosted by Freehold Studio Lab Theatre in downtown Seattle, the Vet Art Project Seattle includes a series of workshops where local artists, military veterans, and their family members work in partnership to create visual and performance art to shed light on the stories, concerns and experiences of members of our local veteran community.
Workshops took place over a four-month period from November to March, culminating in two successful, sold-out nights of public showings followed by community dialogues at Freehold Theatre in March.
