1972          -Recorded single "Truckin' it Home" b/w "Pay Attention" released on Topaz Records, Albuquerque, New Mexico
USA  with the group CODY.  Wrote 'A' side, co-wrote 'B' side.  Learned to play rhythm guitar







1973-1974 -Studied and taught (at King Music Center, Albuquerque, New Mexico USA) "The Electric Bass, Volumes 1 & 2 by Roger Filiberto, Mel Bay

1975-1976 -Co-founded and performed with Latino pop group BROWN SUGAR, which continues to record and tour

                    the Southwest today


1978           -Moved to Denver, Colorado USA.  Toured rock nightclub circuit in Colorado, Wyoming, Montana, Arizona,

                    Texas, New Mexico and Nebraska with the rock groups KICK and THE SCANDAL playing covers




1982-1985  -Co-founded power pop group THE RUMBLE which recorded a killer demo and payed concerts at The

                     Mercury Café, The Rainbow Music Hall, Walabi's, Mr. Lucky's, The Blue Note(in Boulder, Colorado) Aspen

                    City Limits, etc. and opened for international acts such as .....              THE CHURCH(Australia)  GENERAL PUBLIC (England)

                         SACRED COWS, JACK MACK & THE HEARTATTACK (USA) and THE SUBURBS (Louisiana)


1993-1994  -Worked as a 'bassist-for-hire'  clients included: country and western band WAY OUT WEST,  Nashville

                    recording artist/fiddler extaordinaire CHRIS DOERING (who also appears on 'Old Friend' released in 1996)

                    funk trio MOTOR BOOTY,  a bluegrass trio TWO BROTHERS and jazz pop singer/songwriter DONNIE  SCOTT


1994           - Began working exclusively with my own songs as a 'performing songwriter' singing and playing

                     acoustic  6 and 12 string guitar and mandolin and ocassionally dobro


1996           -First solo release "Old Friend" on Cottonwood Shade Recordings (cassette only #CWS1CS)


1997           -Gigging regularly @ The Glory Café,  76 S Pennsylvania in Denver and La Dolce Vita, 5756 Olde

                    Wadsworth Blvd in Arvada, working on next solo release "Lady of the Lake" (which is currently(2006)

                     slated to be included in The Butterfly Project with an optimistic release of summer 2007) always playing

      open mics around the Denver and mountain areas


1998           -Two weeks in Hawai`i at Waikiki....experienced the spirit of Aloha, fell in love with Hawai`ian music, began

                    learning slack key guitar upon  return to the mainland incorporating open tunings into original material


21OCT1999 to

10FEB2000 -Guitarist for jazz outfit A TRIO BY DANA, featuring the fabulous sax of Dana Singleton


2000-2005   -Apparently "...found my niche..." in Bossa Nova according to people who have known me for years.

                     Began using Spanish guitar (i.e. classical nylon string guitar) to play Bossa Nova giving it an authentic voice

                     continued to expand the repertoire.  Backround in Romance languages (Spanish, French and Italian)

                     aided  in learning the Portuguese lyrics.  Continue with open tunings in song composition (even

                     transposing older songs to open tunings) as well as learning new slack key guitar pieces


2006            -Release CD 'BossaNovaNights' a live recording from 2005 at The Walnut Room in Denver and "Old Friend'

                     (on CD for the first time) on Cottonwood Shade Recordings.  Set up a web site and extended availibility

                     of the recordings to CD Baby and iTunes.  Began producing 'The Open Mic Diary', a 30 min video podcast of

                     local Denver and surrounding areas' open mics.......series ended with Episode Eight (posted on www.calvinbuckles.com and iTunes)



March 18, 2007- Release of 'The Butterfly Project: The Early Recordings' (now renamed: 'Lady of the Lake')

                           as C. Paul Buckles  on  Cottonwood Shade Recordings.  The first installment of the four CD, Butterfly Project. 

                           Each CD contains five songs.  Catching folks up on original songs from as long ago as 1971,

                           featuring Dinah Pollard's vocals on 'Lady of the Lake'  and Rick Alengi's drumming and fabulous cymbal work on 'Taking Time'.

                            Selected by K & K Sound to be their 'Artist of the Month' for

April 2007 


2008             -January:  Released 'Oceanica' (pronounced 'oh-she-Ann-ick-ah') by Sandy and the SurfSonics,

                       a long time love for surf rock is finally realized as Calvin, now Sandy; plays and records four originals and one cover

                      (G.T.O.  by John Wilkin as Ronny and the Daytonas. Sandy's version is instrumental with an electric 12 string taking the lead)

                    -October 7:  passed auditioned for mid 60's purveyors 'The Modniks' as bassist/vocalist.


2009             -February:  Recorded song, 'Oh, You' written by C. Paul Buckles in 2006, with 'The Modniks' (Bob Cannistraro, Kem Stralka and Scott Bennett) for the 2009 Boulder Boulder compilation CD.  Scott added an intro and some lyrics and produced it.




 

KICK
