I created this site as a way to document all of the work I have created since I began making art in junior high. Rather than focus just on the newer, more polished work I have created, I have chosen to include older work, experiments that weren't necessarily successful, as well as personal sketchbooks and other unfinished projects. I believe the value in this is to show the viewer the evolution of the artwork. Many of the ideas I was interested in during my early work are still present in the recent work, but they are more refined and understood.
In addition to the artwork featured on this site, the site itself is a project and example of my design work. I created it using HTML and CSS. I hand code everything, and make sure it meets W3C validation criteria.
Creating this site has really helped me contextualize and understand my own work. I have had trouble figuring out what I was interested in pursuing, seeing as I work in many different mediums and styles. I consider myself a painter first and foremost, but I am also very interested in alternative digital media forms, using cell phones and other lo-fi image capturing devices in unusual ways.
For the moment I am going to leave my statement at that. I will be writing a more detailed statement in the future, when I have finished processing all of this information in my head.
