These were created by placing my coffee mug upside down in my sketchbook, and letting the last of the grounds form on the paper over night. I then scanned the images at 1200 dpi, which gave me very large files to play with (around 10,000x7,000 pixels). I then opened these files in photoshop and experimented with different digital alterations, which can be very interesting when using such high resolution images.
Here are several altered versions. I try to use photoshop as an entirely new artform and medium. I use the tools in photoshop in unconventional ways to create new, digital art out of high resolution coffee stains. I then printed these out on a large scale plotter, which come out to about 30"x48" at 300 dpi.
