These sculptures were created in my foundation year at Parsons, as part of our three-dimensional curriculum. I was interested in the concept of modularity during this semester. Many of the sculptures are created out of several basic elements the together form a greater whole. For this first project I wanted to use the most basic materials to create an interesting form focusing on the effects of light. I experimented with folding paper in different ways and using paper clips to hold the forms together.
This was a polyhedron exercise. We were instructed to create a polyhedron exploring positive and negative space. I chose to create a dodecahedron that has begun to unravel itself.
For this sculpture we were supposed to design a sort of water bottle. I again used a modular system to create a spiral mockup of the form of the watter bottle.
