What would you do?

Hate to be a doomsday bearer but I really want to ask you  a question that was posed to me during a wonderfully long phone conversation with a friend yesterday:

If you knew or were told that there was only 3 years left to live onn this earth, what would you do?

Right now it is a totally hypothetical question but what if it wasn’t? Really what would you do?

I know you don’t want to hear this and if you are still reading you are likely the only one, everyone else stopped at “dooms day”.

The truth is however while most of us feel better by ignoring or simply not thinking about it  - shit is really going down and for once I am not talking about crazy ass right wingers telling me I cant get married or that abortion is not a choice or that “collateral damage” i.e. killing people is okay. No that is not what this post is about. No this post is actually in my opinion about something far graver and that is the global environmental situation.

On amerikkan news you are only just now starting to hear about the effects of CFCs, carbon dioxide, smog, melting polar caps. And when you hear about these things it is easy (at least for me) to not really face the reality of their effects. Not the same when thinking about the current HONEY BEE CATASROPHE. You likely haven’t heard anything about it. Not a surprise. But I’ll tell you this even if you are one of the heads in the sand people who think about the worlds environmental and political woes the way I think about my taxes and student loans issues – If I just don’t think about it, it will go away – in both instances we are wrong. (Difference is though my debt issues actually will go way cause we’ re all gonna die when we run out of water and clear air – hah! – fuck the man and yo money!!)  Whoa did I just think that revelation or say it?

Anyway back to the end of times…

Do any reading whatsoever about this current issue as “colony collapse disorder” and you truly realize how fucked we are. Quick and easy breakdown for you:
80% less bees = 80% less food
Bees = Pollination
Crops REQUIRE Pollination
No Bees = No Crops
No Crops = No Food
No Food = Death
(on a side bar)
Death = No taxes, no debt
No taxes, no debt = I win (in a fucked up kinda way)

More facts:

Some folks are wondering whether there is a connection between GMO’s and the dying off of the bees? This might be, given that it is “primarily” happening here in the US where we heads in the sand idiots have allowed genetically modified foods /multinational companies to take over. See what happens when you sleep on the job? Yes – it is a full time job to be an active participating citizen within a democracy or republic in which capitalism consumerism and materialism is running amok. But no, we fell asleep at the wheel and now we are fucked. Did you have a good time in the 79’s 80’s, 90’s and at that new millennium new years eve party? I hope so. I hope it has all been worth it. Hell I’m thinking about stopping this post right now to have some sex cause really how much time do we have?

….okay I am getting away from myself and though that is very American of me, I must get back on point….

So as I started this out – I said I don’t want to be doomsday and I would love to give advice on ways to fix it not just info on what is wrong but to be honest
I HAVE NO FUCKIN’ IDEA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I don’t even know if there is anything we can do other than stockpile can food, liquor and drugs (I’ve never done cocaine and thought I never would but if we’re gonna die, I’m dyin’ high –sorry mom – but that is the truth).  Oh yeah and water I guess, almost forgot about that minor detail.

No but seriously I am not stockpiling anything (not yet anyway). Like most of you I go about my days as if people are not being killed all over the world by my tax dollars, the oceans are not being over-fished, water is not being privatized, the polar caps melting really mean nothing too serious and famine is only a reality on that dark black continent of Africa.

I will continue to plan our Queeding and also read more about this bee thing.
I will continue to support/push my brother to finish college and also try to only shop at local farmer markets buying ONLY what we truly need.
I will continue to look for a new job cause the one I have is truly Matrix 4 and also continue to use less water, recycle, compost and turn of the lights.
I will continue doing what I do cause I am American and we’re not really given the opportunity to do more – or maybe we are and I’m just too lazy.
