Betsy-Tacy Convention

July 19-22, 2012

Your Winding Hall of Fate is leading toward a Betsy-Tacy Convention in Mankato, Minnesota in July of 2012!

REGISTRATION IS NOW OPEN--SIGN UP NOW!

Go to the Registration Page for information and forms

Follow your Winding Hall of Fate to “Deep Valley” in 2012, to celebrate Maud Hart Lovelace’s Betsy-Tacy books and connect with other fans!  Convention planners have been plotting and planning for months, in order to create another memorable gathering for Betsy-Tacy fans at this summer’s Betsy-Tacy Convention.  Registration is now open (check the Registration Info page on this site), so book your trip to Mankato and join us!

The Convention starts on Thursday, July 19th, with events and tours in Minneapolis, the setting of Betsy’s Wedding. We then board Mr. Thumbler’s hack (okay, it’s a bus) to Mankato, also known as Deep Valley in the Betsy-Tacy books, for 2 days of activities, speakers, tours, friendship and fun.

The Convention officially ends Sunday morning, but if you just can’t bear to leave--hop a bus back to Minneapolis and visit Lake Minnetonka with us!

Check the Registration Info, Lodging & Transportation, and Agenda pages on this site for more information.

If you’d like to be added to an e-mail notification list for special updates please click on the small “E-MAIL ME” button on the bottom of this page, and send your name and e-mail address.

Now, go scour the coal scuttle, bake a batch of muffins, press a few herbariums, or reread the Betsy-Tacy books while you wait.

While you’re counting the days until the convention, you can do a number of things:

Help spread the word:

Mrs. Hawthorne is hiring!  Go to Mrs. Hawthorne’s Publicity Bureau page on this site for information on spreading the word about Maud’s books and the upcoming convention.  There’s a convention flyer to download and tile ads for Facebook pages, web sites and blogs.

Go shopping -- There are lots of new Betsy-Tacy related books to buy!

Remember how no Ray ever came home from a trip without presents?  Well, you can spend your time shopping for presents before the convention!

HOME FOR THE HOLIDAYS has been published and is out in the Great World!  If you haven’t already done so, check out author Heather Vogel Frederick’s Mother Daughter Book Club series of books; the latest book, Home For the Holidays, features the Book Club reading Betsy in Spite of Herself!  Go to the BT and Friends Books page to order!

Have you ever wished for a handy, portable guidebook to the places mentioned in the Betsy-Tacy books?

Well, your wish has been granted by Julie A. Schrader, who wrote and compiled just such a guide for Betsy-Tacy fans!  DISCOVER DEEP VALLEY:  A GUIDE TO MAUD HART LOVELACE’S MANKATO, has just been published, and you can find ordering information on the BT and Friends Books page.  It would make a great little gift or stocking stuffer for the Betsy-Tacy friend in your life.  Or buy one as a gift to yourself, as Mrs. Ray did with her brass bowl!

HarperCollins has published a new edition of THE BETSY-TACY TREASURY:  THE FIRST FOUR BETSY-TACY BOOKS.  Introduce a new young reader to the world of Betsy-Tacy and friends (and pick up the other titles in the series as well!).  Shop online, visit your local bookstore, or your local library.

Check out the perfectly grand, hot-off-the-press, BETSY-TACY SONGBOOK, recently published by the Maud Hart Lovelace Society (see the Betsy-Tacy Songbook page here for more information).  Every Betsy-Tacy fan should have one!  You can hold your own sing-alongs, or, if you’re a piano student, pick a song to practice for your next recital!

If you browse or order books, e-books, and/or music through amazon.com, help us out by clicking to their store  through the links above.  A small portion of any sale goes toward the Betsy-Tacy Convention Fund.  (Of course, we always encourage people to buy through their local independent bookstores, too, and to patronize their local libraries.)

You can also go to the BT & Friends Books page on this web site for links to books by Maud Hart Lovelace and by authors influenced by Maud.
