1. Where do I even begin?...
   
   Ah well. Ya'll will see soon enough. I documented everyday ...ALL day.
   
   
   Let's just make this simple though.
   
   Racism. Blatant and Corrupt. Officials driving crazy @ the wheel, and intelligent people portrayed as careless about their government and unknowledgeable about their situation.
   
   Old people left to gut out their own homes.
   
   FEMA feeding victims a whole bunch of nothing (I know, cause that's what we were eating everyday for the past week)
   
   The city billing people for contaminated water spewing from the broken pipes of their now nonexistent homes.
   
   The perfectly untouched upper class (MOSTLY WHITE) neighborhoods. (New Orleans aint ALL damaged, ya'll.)
   
   Person after person after person saying they've got documentation of marked maps of, were there when, or are very much sure that the levys were blown up or at least rigged to fail in "certain parts" of the city. Down there, it's not a "conspiracy theory". It's TRUTH...because it's happened before.
   
   People walking through neighborhoods they've lived in for 4 decades and more..not being able to even find their way around anymore.
   
   Children aimlessly playing and walking around in rubble and ruins.
   
   Protests around a black school because officials won't even let volunteers go in to gut out the RUINS of the school so rebuilding can happen....while lil white kids run around in uniforms on playgrounds in their own school...poor lil black kids sit on the back of cars in they PJs that have driven from waaay out of town...just to see if the protest will be successful and if they'd have some chance of going back to school in a few months or more.
   
   Yards of untouched FEMA trailers.
   
   Attempted closing down of St. Augustine Church (where we were staying), the first black Catholic Church in the nation. They barracaded the doors the night the church was supposed to be closed down and some of the students barracaded ourselves inside the church, ready to get arrested if the police came. Punk-bitches didn't have the guts to pull that shit infront of a news camera tho. Ya'll it was a struggle just for a group of random black college students to have somewhere to STAY....to help their own people. They didn't want us there.
   
   Police harrasing groups of random people, lining up cars on every block of a certain area.
   
   Ruins for as far as the eye can see.
   
   A levee that looks like that cement midsection thing on highways (in the black poor neighborhoods) and that looks like a frikkin fortress (in the white rich neighborhoods)...
   
   Interviews with people who had been dropped off at a new age Concentration Camp when they were told that they were being taken out of the state, left to boil in the sun, deficate on the floors, only given hot water and small provisions to sustain them while law enforcers had cool water and fresh food, and under martial law, where whatever the police WANT or THINK...goes. Shoot first...ask questions later.
   
   
   City officials shutting down plan after plea after plan for trying to help those in need at the city council meeting without even hearing shit out.
   
   Ya'll...I was doing organization work while I was documenting and we went around just talking to people about what they've been through. Ya'll those people just want some black folx to talk to. Most of the volunteers who've gone down there have been white. Do you know what it feels like to have to be saved by your oppressors?...and to be let down by your own people? That's what those people let me know, time and time again. Time and time again, they hugged me, offered me food even when they barely had enough for themselves, smiled and looked at me whistfully and sadly asking how come there weren't more black young people down there helping...And that they never see us?
   
   How can you talk about the blatant racism against yourself with someone with a white face?
   
   Ya'll...it's a mess. And the Katrina on the Ground organization is a blessing in disguise. Both young and old black people across the nation really need to WAKE UP. This is no joke. We are dying and doing nothing about it. I urge...UUURRRGE everyone who can to go to New Orleans....and not just stand on the bridge and LOOK at the 9th ward. JOIN Katrina on the Ground and WALK THROUGH that shit!...Talk to the people digging through that mess.
   
   Black faces are needed, man. We can't let ourselves down time and time again like this.
   
   I'm really feeling alot more emotion than what I'm typing. I just think...that my mind hasn't fully caught onto the extent of what I've seen this week. I most definately will remember it for the rest of my life, though. This trip has changed me.....In a way that I'm not sure of as yet...
   
   I really do urge every black person here to please spread the word about Katrina on the Ground. Read up on it. It's a community-based organization trying to help the Community help itself. No outside craziness. Just us helping us.

   This is not a question of need. There IS need. Our people are suffering by the hundreds of thousands...if not touching a mil. The old are losing hope about their future generations....The young don't give a shit. This mentality has got to change now...including on here. Including everywhere. Whatever...I done ran this into the ground. I dont know what else to say. You just have to see for yourself. That's the only way you'll see what's real and what's a lie. Go see for yourself.

   FEMA is trash. IF they feed you..they feed you stereotypical shit....mostly pork products and other tiny, unfilling portions of things that have long since gone cold.
   
   RED CROSS...is trash. There are hardly any red cross trucks down there. I've only seen 2 or 3 the entire time I was down there. They pick up FEMA food and give them to people to eat, because I asked a woman what she had eaten the day before while speaking to her and she described the same exact meal I had gotten through eating the day before she received hers.
   
   Katrina on the Ground (KOTG) is a black organization. It's a MOVEMENT, and it is most definately worth while. This time, it was just for college students and guess what we found out when we all got together? MOST of our schools refused to fund for us to come on this trip. We all had to raise the money ourselves. Only HOWARD funded their students.....hmm...wonder why.
