In this world of increasing global interdependence, it is essential that we prepare our students for the future and the possibilities that it holds. As we all know, China is a developing economic and political superpower. In order to foster a better cultural understanding of our counterparts across the world, the district has embarked upon the beginning stages of an exchange program with China. Beginning on October 25th, seven representatives from the Brewster School District and five representatives from the Mahopac School District will travel to various provinces of China to begin a partnership and friendship.
While in Shanghai, we will be visiting Jian Ping High School. We then travel to Xian to meet with the TYZ High School to discuss future exchanges. From there, it is onto the Beijing 101 High School and an additional high school in Beijing. The trip will also be culturally enriching, with visits to the Great Wall, Tiananmen Square, the Grand Canal and the Forbidden City to name a few. We trust that this excursion will be the beginning of a partnership in which students from both countries emerge with a priceless experience.
This site will document our activities on a daily basis. The site will include: pictures, blogs, audio, and video accounts of the day. Please remember that that time in China is 12 hours ahead of the time at home.
