Thinking Back, Looking Forward Collaborative Project
Empire State Partnership Summer Seminar
CW Post Campus, Long Island New York

Description: Participants utilized surrealist visual art making games, contemplative education strategies, and participant generated review protocols to transform the 2006 ESP Peer to Peer Essential Questions into ideal reflection and action statements. The collaborative exercises from this highly interactive workshop were the foundation of the cumulative, week-long Thinking Back, Looking Forward Collaborative Project featured in the CW Post Student Art Gallery for the entire 2006 ESP Summer Seminar.
We began with eating raisins mindfully.
We wrote about how the the opening exercise was a collaboration...
...and how the exercise could be more collaborative.
We dialogued about Surrealism, and played Exquisite Corpse.
...where the, “We are in this together” feeling was nurtured.
We each posted the drawings that exemplified collaboration...
...each of us transcending individual privileges where separate expectations are replaced...
...with equality, and collective self-interest.
We revisited our collaboration rubric, and added new reflections .
Thinking back and looking forward in many media. A Third Space moment.
We separated into groups and used the collaboration rubric as a protocol.
We made “ideal inquiry statements” in response to ESP partnership inquiry questions.
Each group shared their process of working together as a collaboration...
...and their visions that responded directly to questions from ESP Partnerships.
Day 1, Mind Training: Collaboration, Thinking Back, reflection and action, meditation.
