Welcome to the new look Central Netted Dragon News!

Well the breeding season is over for another year,  I hope you all had success.  It was a very busy season here with the final clutch sold before they even hatched!  The photo above is one of this seasons hatchlings before she left for her new home.

All of our hatchlings are handled from birth and hand fed making them a pleasure to keep and interact with.  I  also feel this confidence with human contact allows them to settle into new homes with the least amount of stress.

Brumation

Most of our adults are now settling down for brumation over winter and will become active again around late August when the breeding season will start all over again!

If you are brumating your adults make sure they have a good body weight beforehand, especially breeding females.  They need to regain their condition to cope well throughout this cool period.  Also, don't feed them for a week or so before reducing temperatures to allow them to digest and pass any remaining food in their system.

During this time I gradually reduce the temperature and photo-period until I eventually turn all lights and heat off.  I regularly check the enclosures and if I see a dragon awake or moving around I offer them some water by putting some on their snout.  Last winter one of my adult males woke three times over three months of

brumation and drank

plenty of water each

time before returning

to sleep.
