We have resided in or near Hillsdale, Michigan, since the autumn of 1999.  Our four oldest children--Nathaniel (10), Gretchen Marie (8), Maria Grace (6), and Harry (4)--love to romp on our four acres on the northwest edge of Hillsdale, play legos, bike to Hillsdale College, the Academy, or Lake Bawbeese, and read or be read to.  Our sixth child, John Augustine, entered the world on December 1, 2008.  We are truly blessed.

Dedra and I (Brad) teach history at Hillsdale College, a traditional liberal-arts college.  We’re originally from south Texas and south-central Kansas, respectively.  With the help of many friends and colleagues and some good cook books, we’ve made Hillsdale home.

We were engaged on February 12, 1998, under a full moon, on the cathedral steps of St. Helena’s in Helena, Montana.  I posted 95 reasons why she shoudl marry me on the cathedral door.  She agreed.  We were married on June 27, 1998, in New Sweden, Texas.  Our fifth child, Cecilia Rose, was born and died on the Feast of St. Dominic (August 8), 2007.
