A Welcome from the artist--
Bonnie Binkert
After a thirty-year publishing career in New York, Boston, and Los Angeles, I rediscovered painting. Not coincidentally, I returned to painting after moving to Santa Fe, New Mexico, a setting that has inspired some of my favorite artists -- artists like John Marin, Richard Diebenkorn, John Sloan, and others. Following a Modernist tradition, my works are mostly abstract pictorial compositions. I try not to take myself too seriously; instead, I strive to create art that is sometimes whimsical yet with a sophistication of purpose. My purpose might be to amuse, entertain, surprise or to recapture a scene or evoke a mood or feeling. I work in a variety of mediums for I love the fluidity of watercolor, the velvety textures of pastel, and the buttery consistency of oil .
