Aloha everyone and thanks to all those that helped so much for Gavin’s hairwashing.
For those that don’t know, by Hopi tradition our new baby had his hair washed by Bonnies family. In this ceremony the babies and mothers hair is washed with a dried ear of corn before the sun rises. The baby then receives a series of names given to him by family members as well as gifts. He then greets the sun as it rises and is introduced by all of his new names.
Gavin received 21 new names mostly pertaining to the water clan. However the most important one is “Pavatya” given to him by his So’o (Hopi great grandmother). Pavatya translates to tadpole.
We are doing wonderful here and the little tadpole is growing fast. Were off to visit uncle David and Auntie Jessie down in Phoenix this weekend and will be sure to have lots more pictures of Gavin with his cousin Millie. So, let us know you stopped by and please be sure to check back soon.
Love and Aloha,
Alex, Bonnie, & Gavin
