| Some people collect stamps and I collect photographs of corner stores. I always felt an affinity for small shops. In this time of uniform big box stores, they are a remnant of an era in which merchants had a bit of eccentric personality. The following photographs were captured on medium format colour print film with a Holga camera, a rudimentary photographic tool made entirely, including the lens, of plastic. The optical properties of the lens create a ‘retro’ look I thought was very appropriate for the subject. |
