ECO - OUTPOST
A Solar Home designed for the desert near Phoenix, Arizona, frames an integration of active & passive energy strategies. An early prototype of PHOENIX HOUSE was created as an experiment. It celebrated SOLAR technology. It was one of the 1st projects to explore integrating energy design into a new aesthetic. It was inspired by Corbusier’s Swiss Pavilion which floated an umbrella roof form over the living space.  It was proposed at a time when the technology was fledgling in the early 80s.
