Bats!

At dusk, bats fly around here. There aren’t any in this picture but if Leslie had waited a little longer, there might have been. She was interested in the clouds - that’s what she says - but bats are more interesting. They fly around the housetops and the treetops. I can hear them squeaking when they fly. They fly weird. They chase bugs just like me. I saw the bugs! And I guess they eat them, too! More bugs come out at night. It’s fun to chase the moths that are around the light at the backdoor. When Leslie opened the door tonight, there was a great big moth on the screen door! Wow! Right on my level, too. Oh, baby! I tried to bite it through the screen but it got away. I swear I could taste it. I would have loved to have gotten my teeth on that thing. Instead, I chomped some little moths and some brown beetles. The lighting bugs were out when we first went out. You can see them in the grass and the air. They stop flashing after we get out there. What’s the problem? So I sometimes eat one or two ... that doesn’t mean you have to all have to turn off the lights! Don’t think that I can’t find you. I can still smell the ones in the grass!
Leslie uses a flashlight to track me in the dark. There is even a spotlight on me when I go to the bathroom. I don’t know why she does that? There usually isn’t anyone out there to see me. I’m glad she does. She should be paying attention to me at all times. That’s what life’s about! Look at me!
