See my muddy beard and my dirty nose in the pic? It’s my victory picture!
Sorry that I haven’t posted lately. When the weather got cooler, I forgot.
I had a really great day today! I’ve been tracking a certain mole for some time. I caught him a couple of times before but when I threw him on the ground, he disappeared! I’m not actually sure where he landed but I learned not to do that again.
I was sniffing along the house, near that big metal thing (oil tank) when I caught that mole stink. I scraped the grass back. Leslie (She Who Must Be Obeyed) removed the grass and saw the hole. “That must be a mole!” she said. I knew that... I started digging. She let me, too! I knew right where it was. I had to dig and snort dirt for several inches when I caught him! I pulled him right out of that hole. He squeaked and Leslie yelled, “A mole!”
Punch came running when she heard that. She ran right into me and I dropped my mole! I looked around for it. Leslie yelled, “It’s under Punch!” She pulled Punch back and there it was ... running on the ground! I almost got it when he ran under the fence. It tried to grab it with my paw just before it vanished.
Leslie went in and brought out our leashes. Fortunately, she just took me out there - really didn’t need Punch’s help. I dug and dug. I dug five inches down until... I caught him and snatched him right out of his tunnel! Leslie made me drop him. He wasn’t running away this time!
Punch later went out on her leash and picked up my mole. Leslie made her drop it.
Leslie said that she would bury it in its hole. That’s fine with me. I’ll keep checking to make sure another mole doesn’t move in to fill the vacancy.
