I don’t know what it’s like in your family but in mine I am the only serious vegetarian. I am also the primary cook. Last night we had a dinner guest. She was over to help with a project and dinner in the process.
I made a spinach salad with fresh berries - ( raspberries, blackberries, strawberries, and blueberries ). I added sliced apricots and almonds and made a raspberry vinagrette salad dressing. As a side dish and main dish for me I made a brown rice with black bean salsa dish. Tofu chunks were added to make this my main dish for the meal. The entree was chicken browned in olive oil and then sauteed over a bed of pineapple. The pineapple was served as a cover for the chicken and everyone said everything was fine.
Watching other people eat chicken sauteed in pineapple chunks was not my problem. The problem was did it really taste good. Was it tender? Was it juicy? Not being able to taste what I cook has been a long term problem for me. I do not want to dictate meals. I will cook flesh for others and not be bothered in any way that I have sacrificed a thirty year plus lifestyle to do so.
This is a dilemma for me. Is it for you as well? Let me know and also how you deal with it.
