‘A delectable sextet featuring some of the region’s most gifted players, [Tanaóra] offers a melodically  rich sound unlike any other band around.’

Led by singer-songwriter Cecilia Engelhart, pianist Bob Karty, and percussionist MIchael Spiro, and featuring Bay Area stalwarts Jeff Cressman on trombone, David Belove on bass, and Paul Van Wageningen on drums, Tanaóra plays a compelling blend of Brazilian, Latin, and American jazz.  Sung in English, Portuguese, and Spanish, their repertoire includes inspired originals by Engelhart, little-known gems from Latin America, and unique, rhythmically sophisticated arrangements of standards from the Brazilian and American songbooks.
