‘A delectable sextet featuring some of the region’s most gifted players, [Tanaóra] offers a melodically  rich sound unlike any other band around.’

Tanaóra “artistically [combines] jazz, Brazilian music, Afro-Cuban styles, and funky grooves into a widely accessible mix filled with artistic depth.”

Led by singer-songwriter Cecilia Engelhart, pianist Bob Karty, and percussionist MIchael Spiro, and featuring Bay Area stalwarts Jeff Cressman on trombone and David Belove on bass, Tanaóra plays a compelling blend of Brazilian, Latin, and American jazz and popular music.  Sung in English, Portuguese, and Spanish, their repertoire includes inspired originals by Engelhart, little-known gems from Latin America, and unique, rhythmically sophisticated arrangements of standards from the Brazilian and American songbooks.
