In the Meantime and Between Time...

Since there’s now way I’m going to finish this blouse in time for the Fitted Blouse contest on PatternReview, I think this is a perfect opportunity to use some of my stash/remnant fabric and make a wearable muslin that might make it into that contest. I say that in a very hopeful way since I have learned that I always get stuck in the details. The blouse fits me well enough, and I got the collar made as well.

Narrow standing collar.
Since I drafted this blouse with yokes I want to showcase them a bit, and then there’s that wonderful new book... So that’s how I came to use the piece of dupioni I had leftover from our bedroom curtains :-)
I washed the fabric, starched it, and marked a grid- 1” squares. I also marked 1/4” out in a diamond pattern so it would be easier to baste the gathering circles.

After it’s been washed and pressed. This will be the left front yoke. The crease to the  left is where center front will go.
The majority of my stash and remnants are silks, mostly from Dharma Trading, so I’ll be using charmeuse for the rest of the blouse, just like I will for the ‘real’ one. I’ll have to dye it because the dupioni is a much brighter white. (and, yes, I did remember to use silk thread :0)
