The first event of the World Series this year is $5,000 Mixed Hold’em, and it created a pretty tough field. This photo was taken around 2:00 am as the final ten players battled for nine seats at Sunday’s ESPN Final Table.
At the start of this tournament, when there were 451 entrants, PokerNews had the entire reporting team (over 30 people) out on the floor covering the action. When they reached the final ten players, it was just me -- hands, chip counts, and photos.
Unfortunately the 10th place bubble finisher was Kenny Tran, a player that I’ve been friendly with since my days at Card Player. But it should still be a great final table, with Greg ‘FBT’ Mueller, Steve Paul-Ambrose, Jon Turner, and one of the hottest players in poker right now, Kirk Morrison. If you’d like to follow the action as I report on it live (or check out the coverage after the fact), head over to PokerNews.com.
