“ My name is Birgit B. de Boer. I’m an artist. I specialize in oil painting. My favorite subject matter is the female figure. I have been travelling a lot and have had the opportunity to view women and their roles in a variety of cultures and backgrounds. I regard women as the backbone of society, All my work is painted from memory, this is because I get only fleeting glimpses of spontaneity before people are aware of my presence and adjust their behavior. This gives my work a dream like quality.”

Birgit was born on september 5th, 1973 in the Caribbean/ Since early childhood she has travelled with her expat family to countries such as Indonesia, Venezuela, South Africa and Pakistan. She still leads the ex-pat life today. In her early teens, Birgit received formal training in the arts at a local government funded art association named Pro Arte in Alphen aan den Rijn , the Netherlands. There she received extensive training from various reputed artists. After finishing VWO, she went on to the Academy of Fine Arts in Rotterdam. Upon her arrival she was advised by her tutors to major in architecture as there wasn’t any more subject matter on the fine arts new to her.

When she moved to The Hague, she received professional status at age 24. Her work became one of the permanent features at Jokonde’s Kabinet, a well established gallery. After this achievement, her travelling blood started calling and she has been broadening her horizons again. She now sets up expositions and sells her work in the country in which she resides at that particular moment. Her art has been sold in Singapore, South Afica, Cameroon, Paris, Holland and Dubai.
