Bill’s latest work is currently on show at the Leith Gallery Christmas Exhibition in Edinburgh this work and others can been seen at www.the-leith-gallery.co.uk
 
 
One of Scotland’s most remarkable painters Gillon is obsessed by anatomy, by the grace and volume of the human form. The intricately articulated bone structure beneath the flesh. His art is a disconcerting mixture, spanning the centuries between Cranach the Elder and Giorgio de Chirico.

“With virtually no art tuition at all, I began to teach myself to draw around the age of 14 or 15 by drawing self  portraits in the mirror (no one else would pose). This began a journey which continues to this day in a fascination with the human form and that of all other creatures - animals, birds, fish, insects etc and their environment...”
