Mondano ('world citizen') is a new grass-roots, nonprofit group based in Washington DC. We conceive and manage special projects on a local and transnational scale, focusing on culture, arts, and community-based collaborations.
Principals are:
Bill Crandall - curator of the CHERNOBYL::20 photo exhibition. Bill is a photographer and photo editor who has worked extensively in Eastern Europe. In 2001, he led a joint US-Czech-Belarus grant project in Minsk called The Seeing-Eye, which explored the role of the independent photographic observer in transition societies.
Eric Hilton - coordinator of the CHERNOBYL::20 music component. Eric is half of the pioneering electronica duo Thievery Corporation, who have raised money for tsunami relief, and are official spokespersons for the UN World Food Programme.
Andre Kravchenko - coordinator of CHERNOBYL::20 public relations and outreach. Andre’s background is in international development, finance and business consulting. He serves as liaison with governmental contacts, multilateral agencies and private NGOs, promoting greater public awareness of post-Chernobyl policy issues.
