Dear Dharma Friends,
“A Mindful Mind”
This is the theme for the 2007 Southern District Buddhist Churches of America Family Conference, to be held on Saturday, September 29, at the Sheraton Marina Hotel, in San Diego.
Rev. Yushi Mukojima (BTSD) and Rev. Lee Rosenthal (VBT), along with the San Diego and Vista temples, cordially invites your entire Sangha of all ages to participate in the day-long event.
Keynote speaker will be Reverend David Matsumoto Phd, resident minister of the Berkeley Buddhist Temple. Socho Koshi Ogui, Bishop of the Buddhist Churches of America will deliver a sermon to the Japanese-speaking Sangha. Special guest ministers for the Dharma School participants include Rev. Marvin Harada (Orange County Buddhist Church) and Rev. Naomi Nakano (Gardena Buddhist Church).
With an emphasis on family, it is encouraged that participation represent all generations of your temple. From the youngest Dharma School student to the long-time young-at-heart Sangha member, there will be activities for all age groups.
During the conference, the Southern District Buddhist Women’s League and Southern District Dharma School Teachers’ League will conduct their respective annual meetings. The Southern District Junior Young Buddhist League will also participate in activities.
The Southern District Conference was last held in San Diego in 1992. The San Diego and Vista temples look forward to hosting this summer’s event. We hope that your temple is enthusiastic with visiting California’s “Finest City”. listening to the Dharma from such dynamic speakers and spending a day with your Dharma friends.
With Gassho,
