Robert J. Johnson
Robert J. Johnson
This painting was done 45 years ago (1964) and it was the first abstract piece I did. The title is “4 Figures in a Boat”. I had been a traditional painter up until this time. This image had a great influence on the painting and sculpture I am doing today. Little did I know.
Hope this web site gives you some insight into the mind of the artist, in this case me.
I taught in the Chicago public school system for 30 years, and then was the Director of the Bureau of Art, Chicago Public Schools for 5 more years until I retired 17 years ago in 1992. Since then I have continued creating art and exhibiting it.
There is also a collection in The Chicago Artists Coalition, and a page at my undergraduate alma mater, The School of the Art Institute of Chicago.
I would love to hear your reactions and thoughts about my work. Go to the top of this page and click on the various entries to view the work.
Thanks for stopping by,
Bob Johnson
