Welcome

The children in the Green room have been in school approximately 6 weeks.  We are delighted to report to you, “All is well.”   They are excited and happy to be at school, eagerly participating in every aspect of the program.  We are all getting to know one another, learning new routines, new songs, making placemats, sewing pillows and reading lots of books.

Recently, we read a book entitled, “This is the Way We Go to School” by Edith Baer.  This book depicted how children all around the world commute to school and how it relates to their environments.  As a result of reading, we were inspired to graph and chart the ways in which we traveled to school.

We created self-portraits after having stimulating conversations about being alike and being different.  With a mirror, children were asked to carefully draw a portrait of what they thought they looked like.  They did an amazing job and the portraits are now on display directly outside the classroom.

On October 15th, we had our first meeting with our Buddies.  Both classes were very excited to meet each other for the very first time. We will meet two or three times a month.

As autumn arrives in full swing, we will begin to observe and learn about many different trees and all the many changes that come in the fall season.

We hope you will enjoy having a little glimpse into the Green Room.

In friendship,

Sharon Carter and Robin Stewart
