Greensville
Micro-Madrasa Initiative
The Greensville Micro-Madrasas initiative are essentially
community initiatives which have the sustained welfare of
the host community at heart. Thus, it is only to be
expected that each facility will be situated within an
existing community such that it can begin the journey of
truly serving the educational needs and requirements of the
host community. BeyondLabels Micro-Madrasa was launched in
2007 serving mainly Bradford, Halifax, Leeds, Manchester,
Nelson, and Sheffield. Over time as the Micro-Madrasa
initiative expands BeyondLabels Micro-Madrasa will focus on
the Yorkshire & Humber region.
Teaching Style
BeyondLabels Micro-Madrasa has a weekly resident
teacher/scholar Shaykh Ibrahim Osi-Efa and a monthly
teacher/scholar Shaykh Talal. The teachers have been
educated through a classical Islamic education system in
many of the most prestigious centres of Islamic learning.
Learning Space: Neutrality and ‘Fit for Purpose’
The micro-madrasa is fully committed to the preservation
and transmission of the prophetic teachings in a holistic
manner. This naturally procures the need for great care to
be taken in our endeavors to guarantee that the
environment, in which both formal and informal teachings
will be imparted, is congruent with the prophetic ideal.
One such consideration is the concept of neutral space
which alludes to importance of such initiatives being born
in environments which do not, in and of themselves, prove
to be obstacles for potential students who desire to attain
benefit from such a facility. Neutral spacefor BeyondLabels
Micro-Madrasa is a core challenge to maintain in enabling
it's commitment to the idea of equity and access for all
regardless of gender, race or religious affiliation so long
as the proper etiquette are observed.
