2007 ... What a year!

We rang in 2007 quietly, starting the year in idilic Los Gatos, California.   Jack's Silicon Valley clients continued to keep him very busy and that kept the three of us together in CA and happy to forgo another Chicago winter!  The highlight in January was Jacqueline's second birthday on the 12th - she is growing up into such a lovely little girl.  What a joy!  February brought lots of showers and thus, lots of puddles in which to splash.  In March,  Jack circumnavigated the globe on a business trip while Beverley and Jacqueline embarked on a tour of North America.  The first stop for the girls was March Break in Canada with the Farmes/Thorne crew -- after spending most of her life in either Miami or California, Jacqui is unfamiliar with harsh weather but she braved the elements to have fun with her Canadian cousins, Adam and Rebecca!  After a hair-raising trip from Toronto to Cincinnati, the girls spent a week or so with the Domet clan, enjoying some beautiful weather and fun times with more cousins, Zachary and Josie. The tour wrapped up at the beginning of April with a stop in Houston to catch-up with our dear friends Mike, Sarah and Sophie Truman.  On the NA tour, Jacqueline and Beverley flew for 16 hours, stayed in 5 different places and thoroughly enjoyed the hospitality of all of their hosts.  On his world tour, Jack flew for 52 hours, slept in 12 different hotels (not including the fitful night spent in the waiting area of the Hyderabad Airport), and suffered yet another bout of 'Bombay Belly'.  What a trooper!  May heralded the return of the great weather and afforded us gorgeous hikes through the Santa Cruz mountains - Jacqui tolerates the backpack but loves the chance to drum on Jack's head!  The end of June brought us back to our place in Chicago for a visit and the July heat drove us straight to the beautiful beaches of Lake Michigan.  Although the Pacific is more picturesque - Jacqui prefers Chicago beaches because the water is actually warm enough for swimming!  We enjoyed visits from both sets of grandparents too.  During yet another world tour for Jack(!),  we were thrilled to host Alison and Becca in Chicago for a girl's weekend.  We returned to Los Gatos in time for Jacqui to start school at Mariposa Montessori in September.  The fall brought glorious weather, outings and Park Days with Las Madres (Bev's mom's group) and lots of halloween parties -- as October drew to a close, Jacqueline was ready to retire her ladybug costume!  November was bittersweet as we packed up our place in California and moved back to Chicago -- the hardest part was saying goodbye to our friends and especially our babysitter, Jan.  The catalyst for the move is all good though - we are expecting our second child in April of 2008 and wanted to get ourselves comfortably ensconced in our nest before the new addition arrives.  Jacqui talks about the baby but certainly has no idea how her charmed existence is about to change!  Jack's work in California is still going strong and, starting in December, he will begin commuting back and forth as needed.  After enjoying the Thanksgiving holidays in Cincinnati, we are looking forward to spending a very merry Christmas in Canada.
