Joyful Reflections

Noccalula Falls,  Gadsden, Alabama 1/12/07
George and Betsy drove to Gadsden, Alabama to visit this gorgeous waterfall,  Noccalula Falls.  This 100 foot natural wonder is named for Noccalula,  a young Cherokee maiden, who plunged to her death here rather than forsake her true love.

This gorgeous waterfall is Noccalula Falls.
A  statue of Noccalula and the story of her fate can be found here (in the distance).
Noccalula Park offers picnicking,  a playground,  sightseeing train,  hiking trails and much more.
The park was closed for the winter. We want to return to hike to the bottom of the falls.
Betsy was disappointed that the park was closed,  but loved just seeing the falls.
Another view of Noccalula Falls,  from farther back.
When we return,  we can see a Pioneer Village,  botanical gardens --and MORE.
Betsy is STILL thinking about this gorgeous park.  Gadsden should be PROUD!!!

George just couldn’t get close enough!!!!  He (we both) want to come back here!!!!
Look!!  A mallard duck playing in the water near-by!!!
Betsy is now standing along the top where the waterfall begins.
We got the tripod out--and took some pictures of the two of us!
See these two lovers enjoying Noccalula Falls.
Uh-Oh.....  Love is in bloom!!!!  Betsy ‘thanks’ George for bringing her to this beautiful place.
Back at our room,  it’s time for a LONG nap before dinner!!!!
