Does anybody know what it means if you have dreams about bugs? I have been dreaming about bugs all week.
Kimono & Cupcakes

Because I can’t sleep when it would be great if I could, I guess I’ll go ahead and update the ol’ blog. I’m going to skip over my Taiwan birthday trip for now, but there are a few photos with some text about it on my flickr site, if you’re dying for details. For now, I’m just going to write about the most recent cupcake/kimono activity that I can remember.
We can start with the photo at top; how awesome is my outfit??  This yellow kimono is one of only two in my collection that are actually long enough make the obligatory fold (o-hashori) that sticks out from under the bottom of the obi sash.  I bought this (for cheap!) at a flea market that I went to with Rachel and her family when we were in Kyoto. My chief complaint about it is that since it’s silk, it slips around a lot, making it hard for me to keep the neckline nice and flat. Oh well.
Speaking of the Obi, I bought this one for only ¥1000 (about $10) on Yahoo auctions. Versatile and fabulous. The most exciting element though, was my new/old Haori (kind of like a jacket) that I bought at Osaka’s dope-est flea market when I went with Ben and his parents. I like to horn in on the family activities of others. Anyway, it totally made the whole outfit, and I love it more with every day. Sidenote, the sleeves are like huge pockets, so I didn’t even need to carry a bag. Which was good, because I was already carrying cupcakes for Dan and Andrew’s party.

Finally, you’re thinking, Back to the cupcake action. This time I made the Hunka Burnin’ Love, or Elvis Cupcake. Oh my God! Awesome! Awesome!! Awesome!!! The banana cupcakes turned out nice and crusty on top, with all that dark chocolate melted in the middle. I left out the cayenne pepper called for by the recipe, and it was indeed just as good. I really like this business of frosting with a pastry bag. I ended up with extra frosting still in the bowl, so I put it in the freezer  to use for more cupcakes another day. And then of course I stood around in the kitchen, squeezing the unused frosting still in the pastry bag straight into my mouth. Because, you know, it’s just less messy that way.
P.S. I then ate all of the frozen frosting the next night, directly out of the tupperware container whilst watching Desperate Housewives or some other crap.

An overdue update with inadequate info
