Guangzhou - Day #5

We made it through our last full day in China.  It is so bittersweet to be typing this.  What an adventure it has been.  Amazing.  Truly amazing.  We will miss so much here but we are also glad to be going home.

Today was a big day.  We did the traditional red couch photo and then we went to the American Consulate in Guangzhou and got Aimee’s immigrant visa for her official immigration to the United States of American.  Yipee!   I posted some photos from the red couch photo shoot under China Photos - Red Couch.

We then went out with a group for dinner.  We even went and spent our last Yuan on some Olympic tee-shirts to wear next summer.

So, what will I miss?  I will miss the many bicycles, the easy smiles on the people’s faces, the way people dress, watching the Chinese exercise in the morning, the food, the totally amazing way that the Chinese live in an ancient world with modern stuff all around them.  It’s a blend of modern and ancient.  You have to be here to really feel it.  I loved it.

The things I can’t wait for:  Chicago pizza, ice (really - I miss it!), air conditioning, temperatures below 100, the Gunth, tap water and most of all, your smiling faces.

We can’t wait to see all of your beautiful faces soon and for you all to meet Aimee face to face.  She is quite something and you will just fall in love with her as quickly as we did.

Tomorrow we fly out of Guangzhou for Shanghai and then Shanghai for Chicago.  We leave here Wednesday morning at 9:30 a.m. and arrive in Chicago at 3:45 p.m. on the same day!  We cross the international date line.  Cool, huh?

I hope you enjoyed our China adoption travel blog.  I’ll post when we return home.

All of our love, Beth, Brian & Aimee
