Berkeley College Named as One of the Best Companies to Work for in New York State

Berkeley College is pleased to announce that it was recently named as one of the Best Companies to Work for in New York for 2007. The New York State Society for Human Resource Management and the Best Companies Group, an independent company managing Best Places to work programs, formed a partnership to launch the prestigious awards program in New York.

This statewide survey and awards program was designed to identify, recognize and honor the best places of employment in New York, benefiting the State’s economy, its workforce and businesses. The Best Companies to Work for in New York list includes 30 companies split into two groups: 15 medium-sized companies with between 25 and 250 employees, and 15 large-sized companies with 251 or more employees. Berkeley College was named one of the best in the large-sized category.

“It’s very satisfying to know that the benefits and work environment that we strive to provide to all our staff rank up there with the best in New York,” said Berkeley College Chairman of the Board Kevin Luing.

Companies were evaluated based on workplace policies, practices, philosophy, systems and demographics as well as on the results of an employee survey.

“We are honored and excited to be listed among the best companies to work for in New York State,” says Berkeley College Vice President of Human Resources Karen Carpentieri. “We offer special benefits to our more than 500 employees to attract and keep the best faculty and staff. Some of these benefits include waiving tuition at Berkeley for employees and their dependents; an employee referral incentive program; a flexible spending account for out-of-pocket health and dependent care expenses; pet insurance; and a paid time off policy to help balance work and family life.”

Berkeley College will be recognized and honored at the Best Companies to Work for in New York awards dinner on Thursday, April 10, 2008, at The Desmond Hotel and Conference Center in Albany. Final rankings will be announced at the ceremony.
