Frequently Asked Questions

How long is the year at BMC?

The year goes from the middle of September until the end of June.
What can I expect my days to look like?

An average day consists of a rigid schedule that keeps the student very occupied.  Each day has the intent to develop character and discipline.  In the morning, this is accomplished through worship and prayer, studying scriptures and spending time working on academics.  In the afternoon the student will get the opportunity to serve in a variety of ways whether it be serving the community, preparing for our next ministry event, or serving one of the pastors as Bellevue Christian Center.  During the evening we expect our students to be discipling the people in whatever ministry they are involved in.

Who qualifies for Master’s?

Anyone that is graduated from high school or 18 years of age is able to be a student.

When should I apply?

You should apply as early as you can during your senior year, or last year of high school.  If you have already graduated high school then apply as early in the year before you want to do Master’s as you can.  Even if you are not sure if you want to go to BMC, you should apply so you have your options open when you make your decision.

Would I have any breaks?

Yes, we have two holiday breaks during the year.  We normally have about a week for Thanksgiving, and around two weeks for Christmas.

What will I need to bring with me?

You will need to bring with you any personal items that you might need for the duration of the year.  For example: your car, a laptop, toiletries, clothing (both winter and summer cloths), and spending money for the year.  Keep in mind that you will most likely not have a very big room with a lot of closet space.

Is there any cost in addition to tuition?

In addition to tuition you will need to raise your own funds for whatever missions trip that you chose to go on.  Also, you will need to cover your day-to-day expenses like gas, toiletries, clothing, ect.

Is tuition tax deductible?
No, tuition is not tax deductible.

Can I work?

No, during the year you will not be able to work anywhere else other than at Master’s.  The reason for this is we only have one day off a week, and we value taking breaks and so we don’t allow our students to work on that one day off.  You can however work during our holiday breaks.

Will I have to fundraise?

Yes.  Throughout the year we get the chance to work at Qwest Center of Omaha, which is one of the convention centers here.  Through these fundraisers we raise money for our ministry expenses so that we can keep tuition as cheep as possible, and support for our missions trips.
Will I need a Passport?

If you are planning on going on our out of the country missions trip then you will need to have a passport.  We strongly suggest that every student get their passport before they enter the program.

What does Omaha have to offer?

Located on the eastern edge of Nebraska, it is on the Missouri River, about 20 miles north of the Platte River. The city and its suburbs formed the 60th-largest metropolitan area in the United States with an estimated population of 1 million.  Omaha has a rich cultural background, including the Joslyn Art Museum, the Durham Western Heritage Museum, and the Holland Performing Arts Center.  The city's historical and cultural attractions have been lauded by numerous national newspapers, including the Boston Globe and the New York Times.  In 2001 Newsweek identified the city as one of the Top 10 high-tech havens.   According to USA Today, Omaha ranks eight in the nation in per-capita billionaires and Fortune 500 companies.

Omaha's Johnny Rosenblatt Stadium is home to the Omaha Royals minor-league baseball team. Since 1950, it has hosted the annual NCAA College World Series men's baseball tournament.  The Omaha Beef indoor football team plays at the Omaha Civic Auditorium.  The Creighton University Bluejays compete in a number of NCAA Division I sports. In addition to baseball they play soccer at Morrison Stadium and basketball at the Qwest Center.  Ice Hockey is a popular spectator sport in Omaha. The two Omaha-area teams are the Omaha Lancers, a USHL team that plays in the neighboring city of Council Bluffs at the Mid-America Center and the University at Nebraska Omaha Mavericks, an NCAA Division I team that plays at the Qwest Center.
