Sonoma, California / portrait of a town

Shared vision brings Sonoma’s soul to light...

Sonoma, Chernobyl, and the French Alps...through a chance meeting, these
distinct locales now have something in common. Over coffee one day last year,
MJ Allen and Cathy Stancil realized they shared a vision, and a frustration!

“For the past three summers, my family and I have hosted a child from the
contaminated regions around Chernobyl, Ukraine. Before he left us to return
home each year, I searched in vain for a book that he could take with him to
show his family where he had spent his six weeks. I wanted something small
and light that he could carry home. Something very visual and picturesque, as
his family cannot read English. Something that attempted to show at least a
small amount of the beauty and magic that is Sonoma. This is that book.”

“Sonoma has been my home away from home for the past sixteen years, and still
today, I can turn a corner and be struck by the beauty I see. All these years, I have
wanted to share this beauty with those I love far away, especially my parents back
in France, who have never had the pleasure to visit. Through this collaboration,
my dream has come true. This book is a window into our town. Enjoy.”
