Nicholas loves to read.  He especially loves to read all my sci fi and fantasy books.  In fact, he’s read more of my sci fi and fantasy books than I have.  =)  For Christmas I gave him two new books.  When he unwrapped them, he was looking at “The Purpose Driven Life.”  Well, he thought, I haven’t read this, maybe there’s something interesting in it.  A nice attempt at positive thinking.  He picked it up to look at the next book and saw “Breaking Free” by Beth Moore.  Oh Dang.  A chick book.  There was a small moment of horror.  (He is a 14 year old boy after all!)

    Smiling politely, he opened the front cover of one of the books.  Sprawled across the inside cover and the first page was a detailed map of the fantasy kingdom of Midkemia.  OH, he exclaimed, is this, is this....!  He pulled off the tricky dust jackets and found out what the books really were....the first two books in a new series by his favorite author.  Midkemia had never looked so sweet!  

    I laughed so hard!  It was one of the best pranks I’ve ever pulled on him.  Dust jackets are handy things, you can switch them all around and create small moments of horror for all the JR High boys in your life!
