JVK Summer Camp ‘08

JVK Summer Camp is the biggest, most important JVK event of the entire year! Everything about it is designed especially for JVK and it embodies everything I want this ministry to be. (read more about that here.)

And, it’s only 1 month away!! We are going back to the same campground we were at last year for another week of sun, sea, games, Bible teaching, worship, crafts, American snacks and good friends!

We will be teaching about the Holy Spirit and how he empowers us to live as followers of Jesus. We’ll cover things like the Trinity, the role of the Spirit in our lives, the fruit of the Spirit, the Holy Spirit and the Flesh (sarx) and the battle in our mind, and keeping in step with the Spirit. We taught this material at camp before (2004) and it was one of our most powerful years at camp. This year it will be new for the younger kids, and we’ll have more in depth things for the older kids.

Kids are an essential part of camp! It costs a little over $200 dollars per person to run JVK Summer Camp. Because I believe camp is so important and I want all the JVK to attend, we only charge the JV Missionary families half of the actual cost. Would you be willing to give towards the other half of what it costs for a JVK to attend camp? Here is an album of all their pictures and names, so you can even pick a specific kid to sponsor!

Another essential part of camp is the JV Staff! Because the JV staff are missionaries themselves, and so willingly give their time and energy to love on JVK after a long summer of evangelistic camps, I don’t want them to pay to be staff. Yet, it still costs $200 per person for them to be there. Would you be willing to give towards one of my amazing staff? They are such a huge blessing to me and the kids and we couldn’t have camp without them. Check out their photos here.

Giving is easy! Click here for JV’s website where you can give online using your credit card. (on the top left click ‘Give”) Please give to my ministry account(under people enter McMartin and my name will come up), and then send me a quick email letting me know who you want to sponsor!

And the fun part: We’ll put your name on a brick! Not the traditional brick, since we aren’t building anything, but an honor nonetheless. On one of the walls of the eating area, we’ll hang a big sheet with the outlines of a brick wall, full of all the names of people who have helped make this camp possible. So, sponsor a kid, or a staff member, and get your name on a brick! Hooray!
