“Beaver Bark Canoes”

Ferdy Goode is of a very small guild of master birchbark canoe builders and basket makers who keep alive the almost extinct traditional techniques of hand crafting these vessels.  He has also gained a national reputation as a builder of exquisite Native style snowshoes.  Ferdy continues patterning his work accurately using Native American tribal methods and designs.  Delicate grace and meticulous workmanship, combined in a harmonious blend of function and art, makes these Native Style creations one of the finest products of their kind.

Come launch the “BIRCH CANOE”,                                  The breeze is fresh and strong;                                         The summer skies are blue                                           And ‘tis joy to float along;        Away o’er the waters,                The bright gleaming waters,                                     The many voiced waters,           As they dance in light and song.
This light, graceful craft, easily propelled, maneuvered and carried, has continued in popularity and wide use through the centuries --- a tribute to the ingenuity and craftsmanship of the Woodland Indians.           The birchbark canoe is truly an “Indian Masterpiece” and by far the most beautiful water craft to grace the northern waters.
