Beatrix potter primary school

The School.

Since its creation in 1927 Beatrix Potter School has continued to provide high standards of education in the community.  The schools’ name was derived from the author’s visits to her governess who lived by our local common and to whom she wrote, using her characters to illustrate her letters.  Beatrix Potter also drew inspiration from the varied wildlife she saw on her visits to Wandsworth Common.

The school was founded in 1927 although there was on the site a school before this, this tin (it was located in a corrugated hut) school is recorded, but sadly little evidence remains. We were re-modelled in 1933 and 1993, its only interruption to its role in providing education for the local community was in 1939 when the school was evacuated to Bramley, Guildford until 1943 as a result of the 1939 -1945 war.

The school has gained a reputation for its open, friendly and welcoming environment for its continued concern for all children and for innovation and progression.

So what is this new site about.

We are venturing into the world of podcasts, blogs and video to allow us to show you what we are up to in school and for the children to explore new technologies that can offer them new ways to personalise their learning, adapt to the 21st Century and to allow them to present their work and ideas to a wider audience and to learn from it.  Our International friends will be able to link with us via this site as we share our work with them.

You got here via our original site and when we add more to this site we will

let you know on our  original web site as well.
