This last week was in Maryland at the course at the Adventure Sports Center International.  I am the gate system building manager,  or bitch you could say.  Matt one of their employees and I were the ones assembling it for about 2 hours, until he had to go to his real job, and left me with the task of assembling the metal pieces for the sliding system to have almost complete adjustability along their sections of cable along the river. 

    I had a blast camping with Jeep, and Lee two of their rad employees.  Free is always the best price.  Especially when it comes to slalom racers, we may spend X on a boat, Y on paddles, Zed on gear, but as little as possible on everything else...

    During my stay there, I was paddling twice a day.  One endurance session, and one endurance-side-of-technique session... I truly enjoy paddling there, the water is so different, and exciting, that it’s just fun to be there.  Compared to Charlotte, there is just such a different set of tools needed to race well.  Here, it’s about, well shit, i have no idea what it’s about.  It’s basically like american standard versus metric tool sizes.  Both tighten things, but are just a wee bit off of each other...  and in some cases, depending on how much strength you apply, both work.  But not all, that was what I was working on there... 

    Not gonna lie, I had some truly progressive sessions.  I was able to understand all of the leaps I made whilst there.  I made great progress in understanding the waterline of my boat, and how I can change slight pressure in funky water, and have it work great for bonus speed, or have it flip me in a nasty little hole.  I learned more on how to jet out of ups, and how to better use my hips in the acceleration of the boat.  But all in all, I learned that I Isaac David Schmidt, is still not stronger than the sun, and was burnt to high heaven on my last day there...
