Cheese
 
I guess it’s not the Moon that’s made of cheese; it’s Mars. This shot is part of an ongoing campaign to monitor changes in the so-called “swiss cheese” terrain on the south polar ice cap. Carbon dioxide ice sublimates in the spring (turns directly from a solid into a gas) and leaves this exotic landscape behind.
